"You can't sell it if you don't show it"
Visually communicating the value of your business - your products, processes, services, or people - through the art of photography is an invaluable component in marketing to your audience whether that's other businesses, new customers, or existing customers. Not just telling, but SHOWING what your business is and what it's all about is a critical function of commercial photography. Ryan Damman Photography is enthusiastic about telling the story and highlighting the value of businesses across many industries by utilizing dynamic angles, skilled use of light, and personable interactions with photography subjects to authentically and captivatingly create imagery that you can use to show the world what you're all about.
You may notice I have plenty of experience photographing agricultural businesses (which is incredible and so eye opening to the work required to feed the world) so if you're in ag, I'm totally your guy!
Commercial clients I've had the pleasure of working with:
Google, Pivot Bio, International Harvester, Corteva, Pioneer, Pomifera, Key CoOp, Power Pollen, Downing Construction, World Food Prize, DART, Ameriprise
Efficiently capturing multiple subjects in one sitting. Ideal for large teams or situations when everyone is gathered together in person such as conferences. This is the most economical situation to capture or update headshots - the more we shoot in one sitting the lower the per person cost.
Capturing all subjects
agains the same background with the same pose to maximize continuity. This is also the most time efficient option.
Example: Lely Headshots
Utilizing different spaces available to allow for unique posing and use of light. This option allows time to capture each subject uniquely while maintaining a consistent mood within the set of images.
Example: Apex Dental
Not needing to capture multiple subjects? Great! That gives us more one on one time to dig deeper into creating excellent headshots together! Shooting in my studio or shooting on location in your space are both options.
What's the difference between a headshot and a portrait? From my point of view it's the intention of the art. A headshot is a marketing tool used to help communicate who you are as a professional to your target market. A photographic portrait is a medium of art intended to communicate who you are as a being - your style, your personality, your deeper essence. Of course there is a huge amount of overlap here - headshots should certainly have personality and portraits can certainly be used to share who you are with the world. If you're questioning how involved you want your headshot to be we can certainly chat to determine if a standard headshot shoot would fit the bill or if a more in depth personal branding shoot may be a better option.
More involved yet: if you're a marketing professional and imagery that tells the story or processes, communicate the value of a company, and highlights its people you may be needing a commercial shoot. We'll meet and discuss the highlight aspects of what your company does and form a plan to dynamically capture those people, processes, spaces, or products in action. Visit the "Commercial" portion of this website for more information and to view past work.
If you're questioning how involved you want your headshot to be, thinking you need imagery of not just your pretty face but what you're all about professionally, then a personal branding shoot may be what you're looking for. Shooting in a kitchen you recently remodeled as a designer, or capturing you with an engine if you're a mechanic, or or incorporating some action shots of you at your sewing machine if you're a clothing designer could be great ways to elaborate on what you do and communicate more specifically what you do. Personal branding shoots also offer more time to dig deeper into capturing you, allowing time to flow through the process, play with different lighting, and create imagery you can use to promote what you do!
