Petar and Emmy – Married

Petar and Emmy – where do I even begin?! These two are amazing friends, gorgeous humans, and I plan to be around them for a long time.

Petar, hailing from Serbia, and Emmy, from Ecuador, naturally have a global aura about them that I think is so cool. Needless to say, having family in both Eastern Europe and South America their wedding was basically a destination wedding, in Central Iowa. Many airline miles accrued to get everyone together for this celebration. The whole weekend started off Friday evening with an authentic Serbian dinner, complete with amazing homemade foods, roasted lamb, deserts upon deserts, and (of course) Rakia – a home brew brandy made 12 years prior by Petar’s late grandfather. He brewed batches of his special Rakia for each of his grand children’s weddings (and I do hope they had the other kids’ portions off-site – because there wasn’t a drop left after the wedding weekend festivities…)! Oodles and gobs of family, friends (but basically close as family) came together to kick off the weekend at that fantastic Serbian dinner.

Then it was wedding day. The wedding day of wedding days. Petar and Emmy were married on the green at Otter Creek Golf Course, in Ankeny. The reception followed in the club house. The anticipation that accompanies getting ready, all the moments prior to the first look, and the general build up of the day was so photogenic – I was in heaven. Then bride and groom were together, after a fantastically emotional first look, portrait photographer’s paradise – those two. Petar and his striking masculine features and Emmy, the exotic beauty – seriously can’t make a bad photo of the two of them!

Amazing sunset portrait session, awesome first dance (rumba/bachata mix), touching toasts, then (oh boy) the dance floor exploded!!! Never before have I seen such a packed wedding dance floor – all night long! Such excitement, such joy. I could go on and on, but I’ll let the photos tell the story.

PS – the hottie blonde matron of honor is my wife…
